Burly Pine

Tried a vertical panorama to get all of this scots pine (I think) into shot. The big lumps all over the bottom are called burls. These develop from invasion by stuff to the tree; insects, bacteria, fungi and so on. It's the tree's way of protecting itself. Best to not try and hack them off as that would make things worse probably
