Hamburg Rathaus from St Nikolai steeple

One of the most poignant reminders of the Hamburg fire storm during the Second World War is the steeple of St Nikolai - the tower is almost the only remnant of the church destroyed by Allied bombers, and has a lift taking you up 75m to a viewing gallery where you can look across the city. The small fee also includes entry to an exhibition giving more background about Operation Gomorrah and its impact on Hamburg.
