A Day In The Hills

Took to the hills today with the Wee Pal and a new four legged friend , Lord Oliver of Kimmerghame. The hills we walked were down at Broughton, a small village some 25 miles south of Edinburgh, and Lord Oliver (or Ollie as he is known to folk of his acquaintance) is a young black Labrador owned by the Wee Pals niece and husband, but due to illness in their camp we volunteered to take his Lordship out for a day's walk.

Although he is only 15 months old he is really powerful and getting him to walk on the lead and to heel was mission impossible. I feel that I have had a very good gym workout but outside and in an exhilarating environment (it was blowing a hoolie, in other words).

Ollie is a fine chap, that just needs to get past his intermediate stage training to be nearly the perfect walking companion, and at the end of the walk was so tired that by the time we got in the car and were driving away he was sound asleep before we left the car park and only woke up when we arrived back in town.

We have put ourselves on the list of his preferred walking companions.
