Orla & Conor

Town Head Cottage, Melmerby, Coverdale

Same as last year, we are staying in a cottage in the Yorkshire Dales over Easter. Same as last year we were very fortunate to have a beautiful sunny Easter Saturday, perfect for a walk around Coverdale.

We played dominoes after breakfast, the first time in quite a while as our own set has one missing. Then set off on the walk, heading to East Scrafton then West Scrafton for a picnic and then to Carlton. It was a very interesting walk with lots of interesting styles and bridges over streams. Very glad we didn't stick with our original plan of going up Pen Hill, which is just behind the cottage. That would have been a slog and a bit dull. The walk gave Orla lots of writing ideas.

The outside area at the cottage is fantastic, with a large patio area presenting awesome views along Coverdale and a large lower lawn, where Orla and Conor had fun sword fighting.

Unfortunately the wifi isn't brilliant and we had trouble watching TV in the evening. We ended up watching a few episodes of Friends on a DVD amongst several movies available to guests.
