Art...

……………..……Gallery, Christchurch, NZ

On Saturday, 10 May 2003, this contemporary building was opened. Today the glass and steel structure still looks amazing.

The main photo shows the vast entry area.

The first extra gives you further glimpses of the interior and one of the exterior. Workmen and their machinery were obstructing much of the front forecourt. Hopefully our next visit before returning home is more successful capturing the building from another angle.

The second extra includes nearby scenes of Christchurch.

The Curator’s House was built in 1920 for the curator of the Botanic Gardens but today it is a restaurant.
- The Antigua Boat Sheds, established in 1882 and now a category 1 historic building. Boats can still be hired from these premises with indoor/outdoor cafe seating also part of the complex.
- Punting on the Avon River
- One of the historic trams travels past the Canterbury Museum. The museum is undergoing extensive renovation work, hence the ‘missing’ roof.
