Starthistles

After the abundant rains, the wild flowers and weeds have gone wild! Today I found abundant and beautifully coloured Centaurea pullata or Starthistles. This is a genus of over 700 species of herbaceous thistle-like flowering plants in the family Asteraceae. We also call them Knapweed!

I tried to capture a bee or two but ended up with an ant! (extra)

Thanks so much to Miranda for hosting and getting Wild Flower Week underway again. We just have to hope for some sunshine for everyone now!
