A day in the life

It was a bit of a surprise to roll up the curtains this morning, the outside world had changed significantly since yesterday. last night I had to put the heating on in my bedroom because the outer temperature was minus four and it was too cold indoors even for me.

The day followed the normal schedule of playing and writing music, but in the afternoon we, four of my friends, had tickets for a film about a well known Swedish entertainer, who's father, an eighty year old former schoolteacher, had got a depression and lost all his energy. The film was about the son and father doing a last trip to France together, told in a sort of documentary way. The father had been a teacher in French and had always wanted to travel back there but it had never happened until his son helped him. I found it surprisingly emotional and very well done. After the film we went for a meal and had lots to talk about since we're all past 65 and could recognise ourselves in the film and the questions it was raising.
