strength of faith

We made use of our rail pass and travelled to Leipzig. It takes about 3 hours using the regional trains. I don't think I had visited Leipzig before. We all very much liked the city. It's a lot neater than Berlin. Leipzig has been an import trade fair city since the 12th century. We enjoyed walking through the arcades looking at the various shops (see first extra). After something to eat we took the S Bahn to the Monument to the Battle of the Nations (see 2nd extra). The monument was completed in 1913 the first centenary of the Battle of Leipzig where Napoleon's forces were defeated. The monument is well impressive. Max and I walked up all 364 steps to get to the top. Then tram and various trains back to Berlin. A great day out.
