Mouse ears

That's what we called the tiny birch leaves in the spring in my childhood; that's what I think of them still.
In the extra; a mystery tulip pot. I planted both of them with bulbs in the fall. One has brought forth tulips, the other is ...bare. I've not dug into it yet, to find if there is anything there. Is it... am I ... losing my mind ???
