General Post Office, Adelaide

We went to the City today as we had a bit of business to deal with. We walked past the Post Office which these days is towered by all the newer high rise buildings. In this photo it looks very much like the new building is attached to the Post Office but it is actually behind it.
The Post Office is a colonial-era building and was one of the most expensive buildings of the era. It was constructed in 1862. The clock tower has been a central timekeeping point of Adelaide for over a century. The tower houses a set of chimes that have resonated through the streets Adelaide. It is fondly referred to as ‘GPO clock’.
