Grange-over-Sands

A nice bright but cool morning.  I wandered down the hill to see how they are getting on repairing the railway after the derailment on 22 March.  The accident was caused by a big dip in the line caused by a wash out.  The train has now been removed but the line is still closed and is not forecast to reopen until 22 April.  The void under the track was very big, it looked to be 5 to 6 feet deep.  The embankment is currently being excavated and I expect a new culvert will need to be constructed prior to backfilling and reinstatement of the running lines.
