A real life Billy Elliot story

The day of Jack’s professional debut in his home town of Durham (just like Billy)! Loved seeing him performing his socks off as Hare No.2/Squirrel in the Hare and the Tortoise. Managed to catch up for 45 minutes afterwards and persuaded them both to smile well enough for a rare pic together. He looks tired but he’s enjoying life on tour. We’ll see him again next week in Newcastle, in the title role.

Meanwhile, Anna has spent the evening researching her chances of getting a place at Oxford to read Classics and Modern Languages - nothing like planning ahead!! She’s procrastinating about her gcse revision, mainly because she’s finding it exceedingly boring, going over content she already knows very well.

My happy news of the day is that we paid the final term’s school bill, bringing to an end nine years of paying for very expensive (but worth it for the joy and experiences they’ve had) vocational education. We’ve been extremely grateful that they both were awarded DfE funding to pay for the majority of their fees, but it’s still been like paying for two additional mortgages at times. I’m hoping for a few years respite before uni expenses start, long enough at least to pay for the new roof we desperately need!
