Hill Fire at Night

A chilly breeze, but a beautiful sunny day, warm in the lea.  Clouded over in the late afternoon, even a hail shower, but clear this evening, calm too.

Up early, headed to work in the airport.  I started work with oil and gas flights, then a spell on the check-in desk, moved to meeting and boarding flights, then back to the check-in desk.  Busy day of passengers again, all flights on time.  Walkies with Sammy this evening, mostly relaxing on the sofa.

I heard reports of a hill fire burning tonight, headed out for a look.  As we headed out, fire engines went flying up the roads.  Stopped off at a safe point, across the sea.  Thankfully it's not an overly big fire, and miles from any houses, but still not great, especially for any wildlife or sheep close by.  A time of year where some crofters have controlled heather fires, something not seen as much in recent years.  Unfortunately for this fire, it's gone a tad out of control, hopefully can be put out soon.  I'll need to come back in daylight for a look.  Looking across Whiteness Voe, with the fire burning on the Hill of Burwick, from Sletts, South Whiteness.
