From yesterday (7.00am) to 2.00pm today our rain gauge has collected 103mm of rain! The city and coast may well have had more, and it's supposed to increase later. The pieces of fabric and stick in this photo - actually from a peculiar wall covering - looked to me like a flooded landscape...you can understand why.
