Butcher's Hooks

I moved to Shepshed in 1978 and have used the butcher's shop in the marketplace off and on since then, first under Tom Webster, then his son Graeme Webster and now Mr Twigg.

The passage pictured here, next to the shop, was only opened up to the public during the pandemic in an attempt to ensure social distancing by queuing in from the passage and exiting through the shop door. Thus it was that I had never, ever, noticed the hooks hanging from the ceiling before, which I assume stem from the days when there was no refrigeration and meat was deemed more consumable by being hung up for a few weeks.

What snowflakes are we?

Mr Hall, the greengrocer from Syston has still not sorted out his big van. He 'd better so soon since there's a list of six other greengrocers who would like to replace him on his pitch.

Lunch at Finkins then back home to do not very much at all. I did take Basil out for a walk with Cecily. He had to trot smartly.
