another fire

A new wildfire started up north just a day or two ago. It was 8 acres yesterday, then 2000 acres late last night. The wind shifted and 19 firemen were caught in it - there was no way they could have escaped it. Early this morning it had burned 6000 acres, then 8000 acres a couple of hours later. It still isn't contained at all and the town of Yarnell has been essentially destroyed.

The whole city is mourning the firemen, even as more are on the way to stop this thing. We'll be able to see the smoke in Phoenix soon if they can't.

We are in the middle of a serious heat wave. It's been close to 120 for two days, with no real rain for a long time. And it will be over 110 for at least another week. I've decided to punch the next person who tells me that climate change is a myth right in the face.
