Visit to Imperial Palace

Lots of Vietnamese dressed in national costumes having photoshoots.  We saw the King’s apartments, reading room  garden of bonsai trees.  Our guide for the day was very funny but also poignant as he explained the feeling of forgiveness towards both the French and the Americans.  His grandad worked as a farmer until he was 96 years.  He went in for a short nap - and never woke up - a good death.
We then visited the tomb of one of the kings and on to a vegetarian lunch at a beautiful monastery. Afternoon was free so we went the the rooftop hotel pool and enjoyed a relaxing swim.
