The Pensioner

Leith

A morning out round the ‘hood. Firstly to the farmers market for some scallops and fish, then over to the equally exotic Aldi where they’re flogging off good sized clematises at bargain prices. To twelve triangles to empty the bank account of the money we'd saved, then on to Leith Makers where my old Uni flatmate is putting on an exhibition of his linocuts. He has always sent me a Christmas card done by himself of birds and suchlike and they’re very decent, but he’s moved over to more edgy arty territory with these.  Then home and over to the boat to get that diesel line swapped out. By ‘eck did it blow or what. Luckily an offshore breeze, so there was some shelter for the boats, and warm with it. Storm Kathleen apparently.
A good talk with Denis, who reminisced about sailing in the 40s and 50s at Granton - he promises that he’ll write it all down for the Club archivist (I’ll take that on). Only six years till our 150th anniversary, after all.
