The Rotunda & Finnieston Crane

The rotunda on the north side of the clyde which provided access to the tunnels under the Clyde with the pedestrian tunnel closing in 1980. Latterly the building was being used as a restaurant and is due to be developed into an event space for a nearby hotel. The rotunda on the south side has been converted into an office.

The crane was commissioned in June 1928 by the Clyde Navigation Trust and commenced operation in 1932. The tower was built by Cowans, Sheldon & Company of Carlisle and the cantilever by the Cleveland Bridge & Engineering Company.
