Loch Frisa the ferry !

Needless to say the day we leave Mull the weather improves ! This was good news as the Craignure to Oban ferries were running and the blip shows the Loch Frisa arriving in fairly calm waters. We were actually booked on the next ferry but we got on this one and were home by 5.30 pm.

The day started with a bit of excitement just after 7 am when I opened the curtains to see 4 ewes and a lamb escaping from the field and making for the much more interesting grass round the cottage ( extra) . Unfortunately the person doing the early morning inspection ( H’s mum) can’t have secured it properly and the gate had opened slightly. I knew they couldn’t go far but grabbed some clothes and my wellies and got the gate shut lest 30 sheep had the same idea.
Fortunately lambs had been left behind so within half an hour the ewes were back bleating for the lambs, and these sheep are very tame, so it was an easy job to open the gate again and they all dashed in. At last I felt useful to H and her mum !

It was a bit sad leaving this time knowing that the croft will likely be going up for sale before long. D and I have been friends since we met at the Dick Vet in 1967 and our wives since they met at Moray House in 1970 and we have enjoyed many trips to Mull since they bought the croft probably more than 20 years ago.
We have also got to know the local crofting family so well, now on the 4th generation, and they seem to look forward to our visits.

I would like to think we will return to Mull some day although it won’t be the same experience.
However we will be having another West of Scotland island experience in a couple of weeks when we head for Harris to celebrate my birthday - a place I haven’t visited before . Holidays this year are going to be very different from 2023 !
