Seaside route

I wasn’t sure this ride was going to be great because 17 miles were repeated in reverse. Turns out it was lovely! The seventeen miles were flat but there was plenty to see from wildflowers in the verges like lavender, thyme and what looked like sweet peas to tree crops and farmed fields.

To get to the coast we had a pleasant climb to do which then hair-pinned down to the sea. We followed the quiet road through to Sant Feliu where we had lunch on the front and continued a beautiful loop back to Llagostera where the flatlands returned.

We were lucky to find the cafe we’d eyed up on the way out still prepared to serve us food as I was starving (extra)! She brought our food and drinks out, locked the door behind her and said Adios!

With that sustenance, we had plenty left in the tank to stay alert for negotiating the last few busy miles through Girona and to our hotel.

We still had time for an hour by the pool before our evening out at the supermarket for dinner! It’s the best way to get enough of the right food down and as I’m writing this, I think I’ve made 3000 calories today on less than 60g of fat. Finally, I feel full!
