A little bit of history

These are barrage balloon anchor points in the grounds of the Northern Ireland Parliament Buildings dating from the Second World War.  The building of white Portland stone stood out like a beacon was a target.  During the war it was painted black and when I worked in the building some years ago you could see some parts hidden from public view that was still black.

While in the estate there was a mini marathon being run, the extra photo shows the building the barrage balloons protected.
