Cape Weaver

Endemic to South Africa this cape weaver likes grassland, farmland or coastal thickets which is where I saw her.

The males have several females and make their nest of woven grasses in about a week attached to a tip of a branch which is fully waterproof whilst the female lines it with feathers and fine grasses. They lay between 2-5 eggs.

We have driven east today getting to St Francis Cape mid afternoon. The roar of the sea could be heard for miles and standing on the beach seeing the waves form and pound on the rocks was amazing.

The extras are of a lesser sand plover on the rocks which is a rare summer visitor to the east coast of Africa.
