In search of the Pasqueflower

I actually made it to Barnack Holes and Hills with the photographic group today, and we were treated to a display of Pasqueflowers and Cowslips.

The Pasqueflower is very rare in the UK, but most abundant at Barnack Holes and Hills.  Even so there are not that many and are fenced off for protection.  The blip photo is one that escaped the corral.  At extras is a patch of them, and a buttercup (no shortage of them).

Also at extra is a snapshot of the happy snappers, and a speckled wood butterfly.

I did try some ‘focus stacking’ in the camera.  Although the merge was exceptionally good it could not contend with windblown cowslips.  The grass is perfect though . . .

We dropped in to ‘The Millstone’ to wet our whistles before leaving Barnack.  Well it would be rood not to, wouldn’t it.  I think I will need to arrange a mortgage if we go back . . .

Many thanks to Miranda1008 for hosting Wild Flower Week.
