Popular Erosion

We returned to Padley Gorge again today to meet up with Isaac and his family from 20 minutes away in Chesterfield. The shot is of the rocks alongside the footpath and next to the bridge over the brook. Some of the family can be seen beside the water.

Some of these rocks would have been visible many years before the common people had time for walks in the countryside, even if they were allowed access.  But most of the rocks have been exposed by erosion, largely a result of the vast numbers of feet that walk in the same places year after year. Then you add a bit of rain and sunshine and more feet.........
