Beak ..... not quite big enough!

A long overdue visit to the bird life on Hogganfield Loch. It's a very large area of water inhabited by many swans who seem happy to tolerate all ages and stages of growth.

Not only swans also the largest collection of Goosanders that I have seen gathered in one place.  After completing our circuit and making our way back to the car a lady appeared with a black bag full of bread and rolls ..... she does have a lot to learn about feeding wildfowl but as she threw complete slices of bread into the water there was total mayhem as gulls, swans and goosanders converged.

The extra is not a particularly good photo but it was the first time I had ever seen so many Goosanders fighting over bread and I rather liked the four winged gull.
