10,000 Lakes

Minnesota is known as the land of 10,000 lakes...most are just large ponds.  It is also the land of Garrison Keillor, the Prairie Home Companion radio program, and 10,000 taxes;  still, the taxes pay for very good schools, and roads.  The world-renowned Mayo Clinic hospital is a short drive from Minneapolis.
