Cheeky Monkey

Back blipping this due to technical errors on the day... if anybody can tell me how to avoid losing exif data on tablet collage apps please let me know!

Another lovely day in Cat Tien. First up this morning we hopped on a speedboat and headed down the Dong Nai river. We saw pied and white-throated kingfishers, darters, dollarbirds, Indian rollers, hornbills and serpent fisheagles, followed by a visit to the local village and finishing up with a 'drive-by' of heaven's rapids - pretty awesome to feel the power of the flowing water underneath your boat - and we weren't even on the rapids.

In the afternoon we visited the Cat Tien bear rescue centre. - always interesting to see how other centres manage their bears and other wildlife - here we saw a wild gibbon coming down to harass the captive ones and try to steal some of their food!

The cheeky monkeys didn't stop there... we then headed over to a nearby restaurant for a beer where we watched a troop of macaques gallivanting around in the bamboo in front of us. As I went towards the back of the restaurant to try and get some better shots I noticed this cheeky female stuffing her face full of fried tofu!!! Macaques were introduced to the park in the 90's and they've been trying to get them out ever since, I think this is a pretty indicative reason for why!
