Dad comes home at last :-)

So this morning, eldest & I drove over to Southport to collect Dad who was being discharged!

The memory I have not been able to shake off was of dropping him off for what was supposed to be a routine operation at the end of January, watching him walk away with his overnight bag. Things go wrong all the time of course but that doesn't lessen the shock.

Anyway, after we loaded his belongings into the car he wandered off back inside with the 4 wheeled stroller/mobility aid thing armed with a Thank You card for Lizzie, the amazing Physio who has been helping him get some movement back. It was the most amazing surprise when he walked back out a little unsteady but unaided watched by one proud daughter & another proud grand daughter :-)

Upon arriving home 60odd miles later he did the same into the house. Unfortunately this was accompanied by a tumble but only a minor one and we were more fazed by it than he was!

Come the early evening, youngest joined me & Shadow for a stroll to father in laws for half an hour. He is doing really well too.

On the way back we took a short cut through our local railway station. The retaining wall for it's old goods yard has lots of Masons Marks visible on its dressed stone blocks so I snapped some. Many are marked 'H'. H was clearly a bit of a grafter :-)
