Common Enchantments

At the end of the day

We drove 5 + hours to West Virginia today. Holly drove herself and Dee and I drove. We actually did well keeping up. It rained but we were blessed that by the time we arrived at Pipestem Resort State Park lodge the rain had stopped and the sun was trying to come out.

After an early supper/late lunch at the resort dining room we walked the lakeshore trail. It said it was 2.4 miles but my phone says we walked 5.7 miles. Since it took almost 3 hours to walk I know it was more than 2 miles.

We will sleep well tonight!

The sunset was not colorful but we have a great viewing area on a balcony if it does get colorful. You can’t really see the river down below but it is there. Look in the very middle. We will be up close to the Bluestone and New River tomorrow.

This is a great place to stay. The lake had all kinds of inflatable slides, etc. there is a splash pool and several golf courses. And being the off season, the room was very reasonable. And the people are great.

Tomorrow we are going to the New River National Park. Holly and Dee have never been so it will be a great experience.

We are some tired old ladies tonight but we will be ready for adventure tomorrow!
