Not so much to smile about...

Kemar Roach, from yesterday's extra shot, started the day in fine style by removing Jack Leaning, lbw with his third ball. The rest of the morning however, wasn't quite so enjoyable from a Surrey perspective as a stubborn 71 run partnership by Joe Denly and George Garrett developed in between rain interruptions. The swirling drizzle and bitterly cold wind made proceedings feel more like mid-winter than spring, and although Cameron Steel struck to remove Denly for 32, I'm afraid that I'd had enough by the time the players came off for an early lunch amidst more rain. Needless to say, once I'd departed things picked up considerably both in terms of the weather and Surrey's fortunes, as they proceeded to bundle Kent out for 244 and then reach 185 for one wicket by the close of play.
