My topsy-turvy life

By Rathmandu

Why is it wooden?

An earlyish start (for a Saturday) saw us getting to the showground before half past eight for the culmination of the Shropshire Primary Schools Half Marathon. Anybody who's entered runs the first 12 miles as part of their PE lessons at school before running the last mile altogether in their year groups at the showground.

One thing that meant this morning is that Owen bumped into his best friend from nursery and they decided to run together. As we saw Owen coming round at the start of his second lap he was in floods of years and one of the stewards let me run the second lap with him. Turns out that he and EW had been together, seen people from their own school and gone to talk to them, EW had fallen over and Owen had seen him walking back and was worried about him.
He was still sobbing -and running- when we caught up with EW with the tail walker so they ended up running together again.
He did absolutely brilliantly and just kept going even though he was so upset.
That medal was thoroughly deserved!

In usual Saturday fashion a busy start just meant a busy day as we went straight from the showground to Medieval Madness for another birthday party then took the opportunity with the weather to actually mow the lawns this afternoon.
Geoff picked Aaron up at 5 to take him to Molineux for tonight's game against Arsenal but just before 6 I got a phone call saying they'd broken down. Cue a dash to pick them up and get them to Wolves in time for kick off and I'm now writing this sat in a pub, watching the game on TV, waiting to pick them up at the final whistle.
