A Number

or two or three.......

Part of the Heartfreek July Challenge!

Today has been a real 'numbers' day:

Firstly, these arrived for Aiden, it's one of her dancing exams results, certificate and a Goodbye/Goodluck card signed by all the girls in her ballet/modern jazz/tap class, she was thrilled to receive it and was close to tears reading all the lovely comments the girls had written to her. The Number/s mean she obtained a Distinction, so she's really pleased and I'm really proud of her.

This morning Blaine and I had an appointment at another school, this time I had to do the tour alone while Blaine had to sit a 3hr 'entrance test'!

Just to put you in the picture, about both of the high schools we've visited so far. We have been told they are both are oversubscribed (see....Numbers again).

The reason we wanted to actually see the schools is because on the application to the LEA, it asks our school preference and unless we'd visited the schools, how would we know which one was the preferred one.

Although I'm not sure what it really matters if they are both full!! Confusing system which I don't understand at all, surely pupils are leaving all the time?

Apparently if we don't get into the preferred school, we can appeal.....which makes it sound all very demanding...., but if they are oversubscribed, how could an appeal actually work anyway???

I can't help wonder what happens in that situation; would they suggest a school further away, or do we just give up with the whole idea of formal schooling and work towards GSCE's at home and sit exams as an external candidate.

I have definitely had my quota of exercise today, it's at least a 40min walk to that school, and this morning I walked there, back and there and back again.
