Birds

of the KNP.
We had another wonderful day seeing many of the plains game but we also enjoyed many sightings of the beautiful and varied birds.
The barbet was relaxing where we enjoyed our brunch - a special site where one can alight one's vehicles, enjoy a BBQ and use the facilities! The Bateleur was finishing off a kill on the road, the Namaqualand sand grouse and its partner were just food hunting as was the Coucal - a big bird that is quite shy and hides in bushes!
In extra the long tailed shrike were harassing a black mamba (snake) that was in the tree.  We wondered what they were fretting about and suddenly saw the snake! I'm grateful they were a long way off as these snakes are highly venomous and can easily kill......
