St George's Day

It's quite amazing how many countries claim St George as their Patron Saint - Ukraine, Bosnia, Georgia, Ethiopia and of course England (among others).  

I'd lay money that not many people in any of those countries know that he was a Greek soldier in the service of the Roman Emperor Diocletian.

Much more interesting is that today is also the alleged birthday (the records are sketchy and probably written by Christopher Marlowe) and also the death day of William Shakespeare.  If he was the same age as me, he'd have been dead for 7 years.
