Another day another heron

Went to Montezuma today because there has been a Swainson's hawk around for the last week , which we did not see.
in fact it was a bad day to go because the wind was cold and there were some gusts and not many birds ( compared to the weekend which was nicer  ). But we did see a few herons  and some ducks and coots.
AT Howland's Island at a Marsh that belongs to the Nature Conservancy we saw a few Caspian and black terns and several yellowlegs. One is in extras, he landed in the middle of the road and checked out a puddle to see if there was anything edible. There was not and as we started to turn the car around he left, complaining.
