On a Roman barge

We had  a very nice outing after work. My one place of work is situated in a town that was very important in Roman times. Over the years the remains of 7 Roman barges have been found. One of those has been the example of a replica being built in the same way they were built in the Roman time. They even used the wood from the same forest.

We started our evening by a short visit to the local museum, where a guide told us about the old days and how everything in town was situated at the time. He then took us to the water where we embarked on the replica of the Roman barge, which was very interesting!! After the boat trip we paid a short visit to the local castle, where he showed us the dungeons, nowadays used for exhibitions of paintings and photos.

A very interesting evening!
