Life through the lens...

By ValC

Ramble round Otley Chevin.

Driving there today we had a hail storm and heavy rain. The temperature had dropped to 4C and the snowflake was showing up on the car dashboard.
Must be mad we thought!

However once in the car park, at the top of Otley Chevin, the rain stopped.
I did put my waterproof over trousers on just in case as showers were forecast all day.
Also had all my winter walking clothes on, including scarf, hat and gloves. It felt freezing!
Just 7 of us today.

It turned out to be a lovely walk. 6.5 miles.
East Chevin, East Carlton, Outskirts of Bramhope , West Chevin and back.
The beech trees especially were looking beautiful. Not many bluebells though.
Plenty of horses blocking our path in several fields. Fortunately all friendly!
Also lots of lambs, and some quite awkward stiles. A terrible path through part of The Chevin as they had laid new stones. Big and not easy to walk on. Went over on my ankle a couple of times.
But would you believe it we had no rain, and towards the end of the walk the sun came out!

Finished off at The Mistal Kitchen opposite.
All sat outside and had a cuppa.
We thought the tea very pricy at £3 for a tea bag in a teacup!
Won’t be going there again!

Back home and now looking forward to a nice soak in the bath. Will try not to fall asleep!
