Useful life skill

Many years ago, schools taught useful life skills like how to change a plug.
This socket underneath my desk recently became free because of an upgrade I made to the house's network, which meant I was able to move the position of the plug for my desk light. As there isn't enough room to get the plug behind the desk, this involved taking it off the cable, pulling the cable through, then rewiring the plug. Previously, I had to lean over the edge of the desk and plug it into a plugboard when I wanted to use it. Now I can simply press the switch.
I am disproportionately pleased with myself over this very tiny example of DIY.
