Rabbit on the wall

Today has been a busy one. We started off visiting Carmo and Carmelitas churches, in Porto there are a lot of churches and they were not allowed to build a church touching another however these two particular churches got around it by building a very thin 3 story house in the middle of the two so technically they aren’t touching. We visited both churches plus the house.

We then went to the famous bookshop in Porto Livraria Lello, you have to book a ticket online for 8 Euros and choose a time slot. The ticket price can then be redeemed on a book. It’s the most beautiful bookshop and it is said JK Rowling got her inspiration for hogworts in this book shop and of course there is a big selection of Harry Potter books.

After the book shop we took a walk down to the river and crossed over to Giai to do some port tasting in Augusto port house which is a family run port house unlike a lot of the others which a big corporate chains selling worldwide. We had a tour followed by port tasting which was delicious and I didn’t like port before I came here!

We then found the rabbit on the wall which is today’s picture. Very famous rabbit in Porto!

We then stopped at a food market for cheese, meat and bread platter with a glass of rose!

After all the port and wine a nap was needed, so we jumped on the cable car to save our legs and headed back across the bridge to our hotel.

Tonight we decided to go down to the river again for dinner and to see the sunsetting, it was very busy Giai side of the river as this is best place to watch the sunset! We had a delicious meal of cod which is their speciality followed by a glass of port!

Loved Porto I think I will definitely be back!
