Why 1,000 days?

We have just received a lovely batch of photographs from IMPACT Cambodia. Our colleagues have been visting rural villages as part of their 1,000 Days Programme, which aims to improve the diets of pregnant women, provide antenatal care and health support for infants.

Why 1,000 days? The period from conception to a child's second birthday is a critical time, and inadequate nutrition can cause irreperable damage to physical and mental development.
