The Cutter, Ashington

Inspired by seeing 'The Pitmen Painters' at the theatre, a few months back, KryptoMart and I decided to go to Ashington, to see the original paintings. They are housed in the Woodhorn Museum, which is sited in the old Woodhorn Colliery, and which I must say is a wonderfully well done museum, still with many of the original colliery buildings including the pit wheels. There is also the Cutter building which houses the Pitmen paintings as well as many other interesting exhibitions about mining, and it is free too.

A real undiscovered gem of a place to visit.

Off to Sunderland and Seaham now.
