a lifetime burning

Singing in the rain

We were woken in the early hours by a thunderstorm and torrential rain.  It's been a while since we've had so much thunder and lightning at night. There seemed to be such a lot or rainfall that we both wondered if the local playing fields might be flooded (again) this morning, but they don't seem to have been.  It is still raining (sort of) now, although it's really just a very fine drizzly mist.  Its what Cathy and I used to call "Lakes Weather" in memory of some wet trips to the Cumbrian Lake District - you know the sort of weather - you don't think its that wet, but by the time you've been out in it for a bit you are absolutely soaked.

Life is strange - you've been trying to get a shot of a particular bird and then all of a sudden you get several.  In this case it's a sedge warbler.  Prior to yesterday I hadn't had a clear view of one this year.  But here it is again: this time sitting on the edge of a field or rape singing in the drizzle.
