Ship Shape

Back in Bristol today, and the sun came out as I was walking back from MacDaddys over the swing bridge and along the dockside. I live 5 minutes from here, and when the summer warmth is on my skin and the light dances on the water, I feel extremely fortunate to do so .

The Balmoral started her career in 1949 as a foot ferry service between Cowes and Southampton. As car ownership grew, she was redeployed in and around Bristol for various excursions to Weston, Lundy, Cardiff. After an undignified, but thankfully shortlived period as a floating disco in the early 1980s she is now very much part of the Bristol harbourscape as a venue for conferences and private functions. We considered holding our wedding party here, but it holds 750 guests - a little large for us.
