late bloomer

My crab apple tree has already been in full bloom and dropped all its white petals. It looked a bit like a snow shower when it happened.
My neighbor has a different kind of crab apple tree. It always blooms later than mine and the flowers look like miniature roses. And the apples come later and are bigger than mine, too. Maybe it lives by the adage, "haste makes waste."
