Blenheim Palace

If it's Thursday it must be time to head towards the Midlands. Today's tourist agenda started with a visit to Blenheim Palace. A place I have not been to before. As gifts go this seems to have been exceptionally generous. As we contemplated this example of State generosity I made the comment that when Montgomery won the battle of El Alamein the only gift he got was General George Patton. John Churchill did rather better when he was given the land and funds to build Blenheim Palace.

Masses of visitors, but even with so many people around it did not seem overcrowded. No wonder a king was able to comment that he had nothing to compare. Truly this is a Palace fit for a King.

We spent several hours at Blenheim before moving north towards Warwick where we visited the Heritage Motor Museum. A celebration of a lost industry and an exhibition of the British motor industry over roughly 100 years. Amongst the later exhibits several examples of the cars which brought the British motor industry to its demise.

In the evening check in at our hotel, but no "guest of the day" for me today.
