Dominion of Canada

Yesterday was the 75 year anniversary of the class A4 pacific steam locomotive "Mallard" achieving the world speed record of 126mph for a steam locomotive. She is on display at the National Railway Museum in York together with five sister engines. These are the six remaining A4 locomotives from an original total of 35. They are only all display together for two weeks.

Today we visited the NRM and this photo shows no. 4489 "Dominion of Canada" which was shipped across the Atlantic, together with 60008 "Dwight D Eisenhower" specially for this event.
