Popcorn

Popcorn with sal de gusano.

Sal de gusano is usually translated into English as "worm salt," and many online sources will try to make their readers squeamish with the claim that it contains dried ground worms in addition to salt and chili powder. It does not contain ground worms! It contains ground moth larva. That's less gross sounding, right? Surely no one would object to something so innocuous sounding. The larva are picked off of agave plants which they eat (and would kill if not removed). This salt is traditionally sprinkled on orange slices which are served with mezcal, but I have discovered I love it on popcorn.
