Cold, cold, cold!!

We stayed in bed as long as possible this morning because it was really, really cold, so cold that MrM actually turned on the electric blanket on his side of the bed, something he’s never done before.  He lit the fire but it just wasn’t enough to warm up the living area of the cottage we were staying in.  When he went out to check the car it was -4deg and he had to scrape off the thick ice.  We drove to where our friends were staying and picked up A’s bag, then drove to Roxburgh Village to get some breakfast.  Afterwards we walked up and down the street, which didn’t take long, then popped into a gallery to have a look.  We bought a painting of a kingfisher and had a nice chat to the artist/owner of the gallery.

We set off on the drive to Lawrence and stopped to say a quick hello to the cyclists at Beaumont.  It didn’t take us long to reach Lawrence, which is an historic town.  We looked at an old stamper battery that had been used to crush rocks to find gold, then found somewhere to have a coffee while we waited for the cycling group to arrive.  Their shuttle turned up to collect the bikes and drop off their bags but the three of us left before the next shuttle arrived to take them to Dunedin Airport. We arrived home just after 6:30pm.

The main blip and the first extra were taken at Millers Flat; the second extra was taken from Honey Cottage this morning.
