Bodgit & Scarper Ltd.

Harping back to Blipfoto during the winter I showed our awning wrecked by the seemingly constant storms. The very high winds were the real culprits as they whipped the awning cover up and down until it snapped the central support. The rest of it is solid, we bolted it to the wall, the fence and the one that we had nothing to bolt it to we cemented into the lawn.
So now that we have some lovely weather it was time to sort that central section out. We had to buy a whole new product as we couldn't just buy the cover so the idea was the replace the central bit. Didn't work out to be so easy to remove it, although we'll have a go if the bodgit doesn't work.
I've supported it with a length of wood to keep it in position. put two bits of metal, top and bottom, which I had to drill through with the holes matching so I could put bolts through. After putting it together, to make sure it all fitted, I took it apart again to lather it in Araldite (a renowned very hard resin glue). Then put the two pieces of metal back together, tighten the bolts, and use clamps, so the Araldite was compressed and hopefully it will all hold together when I remove the clamps in the morning. Fingers crossed!
